“We haven't seen such a show of hypocrisy and hatred of Jews like that of the Hague Tribunal since Nazi propaganda.”

“Drawing parallels between the leaders of a democratic country determined to defend itself from despicable terror to leaders of a blood-thirsty terror organisation [Hamas] is a deep distortion of justice and blatant moral bankruptcy.”

“I'm pleased to see that the law is now occupying the place it should. Until now, politics has been suspected of holding back the application of the law and in a way that's been very unsatisfactory - now the law is saying it's going to play its part, so that's a good thing. Don't prejudge the issue, it's an application for arrest warrants by Mr Khan in respect to people on both sides and we wait for the judges decision whether to confirm or not.”

“The decision by the ICC prosecutor to seek arrest warrants for three Hamas leaders equates the victim with the executioner. the ICC decision gives encouragement to Israel to continue its war of extermination in Gaza.”

“The ICC deals with only serious crimes but when you hear what is detailed on both sides, it really is sobering. On the Israeli side, he is naming the prime minister and the defence minister but says this was a state policy, this was official government policy to use starvation as a method of war. I think it is interesting that he's decided to make this public at this stage because the other important decision by Khan [Karim Khan] in the last couple of years is when he brought an arrest warrant against Vladimir Putin and his children's commissioner, Maria Lvova-Belova, in March 2023. At that stage, there were arrest warrants. We're not at this stage; he's gone public saying there should be arrest warrants and he needs to go to the judges. Last time, he had already gone to the judges and it was made public that the judges had approved the recommendation. I can't tell you the reason why, but perhaps he's trying to force an end to the violence by speaking out as early as possible and trying to force efforts for a ceasefire. That seems to be a possibility - why he's decided to act this way.”

“It's a humanitarian crisis in Gaza. I am working on a deal to end the fighting and build a lasting and durable peace. Leadership is about fighting through the most intractable problem. It's about channeling anger, frustration and heartbreak to find a solution. It's about doing what you believe is right, even when it's hard and lonely.”

“An attempted coup d'etat has been put down by the defence and security forces. The attempt involved foreigners and Congolese. These foreigners and Congolese have been put out of action, including their leader.”

“When very, very experienced humanitarian aid workers, who have been in all kinds of places around the world for decades, when they go to Gaza - to help, to serve, to work - it is traumatising for them. So, God help what it must be for the people of Gaza. It is really difficult and it's getting worse daily. We meet with Israelis daily through COGAT, the committee set up for this purpose. We have many detailed discussions with them about security, about the movement of our trucks and convoys, about the priorities for fuel, but the fact of the matter is, we are not in a position to provide proper aid to the people of Gaza. Right now, it's not ever been quite as difficult as it is today. Much more can be done and ideally, obviously and hopefully this [Israeli military] operation needs to stop.”
