“I have noted those remarks of the US side. We deplore and reject Secretary Blinken's statement. Since China and the US established diplomatic ties in 1979, US administrations, including the current one, have all clearly stated that they would adhere to the one-China policy. The China-US Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations and the August 17 Communiqué clearly noted that 'the United States of America recognized the Government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government of China, and it acknowledged the Chinese position that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China.' In the Shanghai Communiqué, the U.S. side also declared that 'The United States acknowledges that all Chinese on either side of the Taiwan Strait maintain there is but one China and that Taiwan is a part of China. The United States Government does not challenge that position.' The US admits that Taiwan is part of China, but keeps talking about the mainland's potential aggression of Taiwan. Isn't this self-contradictory since a country can not 'invade' part of its own territory? The US leadership has stated on multiple occasions that the US does not support 'Taiwan independence'. However, the US side has not stopped selling arms to and having official contact with Taiwan, which have sent wrong signals to 'Taiwan independence' forces. We have this stern warning for the US side: The historical trend of China's reunification cannot be held back, and the one-China principle is what underpins peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. The US side shall not underestimate the strong resolve, determination and capability of the 1.4 billion Chinese people in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Reneging on the commitment will push Taiwan to dangerous waters and bring unbearable cost to the US itself.”

“There is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. The current situation across the Taiwan Strait faces a new round of tension. The root cause is that the Taiwan authorities have repeatedly tried to seek 'Taiwan independence' by soliciting US support, while some in the US intend to contain China with the Taiwan question. The US and Taiwan have colluded with each other, and certain individual deliberately draws parallel between Taiwan and Ukraine despite they are two fundamentally different issues. Their aim is to mislead the public and profit from that. It is such move of playing with fire that would change the status quo across the Taiwan Strait. The Taiwan question is a legacy of the Chinese civil war. China must and will be reunified. We will strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with utmost sincerity and efforts. That being said, we reserve the option of taking all necessary measures in response to the interference of foreign forces and the secessionist activities of a handful of 'Taiwan independence' separatists. The so-called 'Taiwan Relations Act' unilaterally concocted by the US side runs counter to the principles of the three China-US joint communiqués and basic norms governing international relations. China has been firmly opposed to it since the very beginning. The US has no right to put its domestic law above international law, still less use it as a pretext to meddle in China's internal affairs. On the Taiwan question, the US should abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, not the so-called 'Taiwan Relations Act'. The US should abide by the one-China principle and stipulations in the three China-US joint communiqués, cut off official interactions and military ties with Taiwan, stop arms sales to Taiwan and take concrete actions to fulfill its commitment of not supporting 'Taiwan independence'.”

“There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. The Central People's Government of the PRC is the sole legitimate government representing China. This is an objective fact and a basic norm governing international relations. Taiwan was once occupied by Japan, but the 1943 Cairo Declaration and the 1945 Potsdam Declaration clearly stipulate that the Chinese territory occupied by Japan, like Taiwan, shall be returned to China. Resolution 2758 adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1971 also reaffirmed the one-China principle. It is based on the one-China principle that China has formally established diplomatic ties with 180 countries worldwide. The one-China principle is the political underpinning of China-US relations. As per the 1979 Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the People's Republic of China and the United States of America, the United States recognizes the Government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal Government of China. This serves as the basis for China and the US to recognize each other and to establish diplomatic relations. Within this context, the people of the United States will maintain cultural, commercial, and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan. For Pompeo, compared with his own political interests, the fundamental interests of the Chinese and American people are just nothing. He is only interested in making up one lie after another to confound right and wrong, confuse the public, torpedo China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. His ugly and malicious intentions have been laid bare for all to despise. Pompeo should know that China will resolutely fight back against all attempts that undermine China's core interests and interfere in China's internal affairs. Nothing will stop the historical trend of China's reunification.
