Sue Mi Terry “Now is not the time to lift sanctions, either. Now, in fact, is the time to double down. If Biden wants to prevent North Korea from acting out, he needs to first provide the government with new incentives to talk-and that means new restrictions Washington can use as carrots. Biden, in other words, needs to take North Korean policy off autopilot and launch a proactive effort to deter Pyongyang. Otherwise, he risks encouraging an already emboldened Kim to stage a major provocation.” 10 hours ago
  • Christopher Cavoli
Christopher Cavoli “Russians don't have the numbers necessary to do a strategic breakthrough. More to the point, they don't have the skill and capability to do it, to operate at the scale necessary to exploit any breakthrough to strategic advantage. They do have the ability to make local advances and they have done some of that.” 11 hours ago

Nazar Voloshin “The situation in the Kharkiv sector remains complicated but is evolving in a dynamic manner. Our defence forces have partially stabilised the situation. The advance of the enemy in certain zones and localities has been halted.” 16 hours ago
  • Volodymyr Zelenskiy
Volodymyr Zelenskiy “The situation in the Kharkiv region is generally under control, and our soldiers are inflicting significant losses on the occupier. However, the area remains extremely difficult.” 16 hours ago

Bezalel Smotrich “Defense Minister Gallant announced today his support for the establishment of a Palestinian terrorist state as a reward for terrorism and Hamas for the most terrible massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.” 16 hours ago

Yoav Gallant “I must reiterate … I will not agree to the establishment of Israeli military rule in Gaza. Israel must not establish civilian rule in Gaza.” 16 hours ago

“We couldn’t allow the Palestinians to stand as a roadblock to a broader Middle East peace. So we went to our friends and partners and allies and we built political capital. And one way we built political capital in Israel was by moving the embassy to Jerusalem, one way we did it was by recognising the Golan Heights, as Israeli territory. These were facts that were never going to change on the ground. Jerusalem was never going to change being the capital of Israel. Israel was never going to give the Golan Heights back to Assad or any other regime in Syria. We did the same thing. We built political capital with Bahrain, with Morocco with the UAE by letting them know that we would stand with them, by getting out of the Iran nuclear deal which was a serious threat to the region.”

“Today I am announcing that the government has revoked the authorisations under way for the export of missiles and aircraft bombs to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. [This is] an act that we considered due, a clear message of peace coming from our country. For us, respect for human rights is an unbreakable commitment.”

“We call on all external parties, to include Russia, Turkey and the UAE, to respect Libyan sovereignty and immediately cease all military intervention in Libya. Per the October ceasefire agreement, we call on Turkey and Russia to immediately initiate the withdrawal of their forces from the country and the removal of the foreign mercenaries and military proxies that they have recruited, financed, deployed and supported in Libya.”

“I think we are at one minute to midnight as far as a conflict with Turkey is concerned. France sees that if Turkey wins influence over Greece and Cyprus, then Turkey will become the major power in the East Mediterranean, pushing Egypt and Israel to the sidelines and forcing them into an alliance. If it succeeds, the East Mediterranean will become a Turkish lake. Israel’s new relationship with Arab nations… permits the creation of a bridge of countries starting in France, passing through Greece and Cyprus, going to Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and reaching India. A barrier against the dangerous network Turkey is trying to create with Pakistan and Turkic nations.”

“The decision sends a clear message that the UAE is committed to its decision to normalize relations with Israel. It does also raise questions about possible repercussions for anyone in the country calling for the boycott of Israeli goods, now that doing so contradicts the state policy.”

“It is absolutely fundamental to discard the polarised lenses and partisanship when discussing the UAE announcement of open ties with Israel. The problem is deeper than just the UAE. A holistic approach to the topic reveals that this latest development is the culmination of decades of Gulf-wide taboo breaking from Qatar embracing Israel and Al-Udeid, Bahrain hosting Kushner to present his Deal of the Century, Oman receiving Netanyahu to threaten UAE, and UAE brokering meetings for Netanyahu with Sudan's AbdulFattah Burhan. Otherwise they are bound by geostrategic realities to cooperate with their larger neighbours whether they be Saudi Arabia, Egypt, or Iran.”

“It’s not really a race but a mission for humanity. I think it’s more of a friendly competition. It is good always to compete with others and now the UAE is the first Arabic country that sent a spacecraft to Mars. Space is an area where all countries work together. Competition is good but in the end, it’s all about collaboration and working together,”
