Connor Fiddler “Nearly half of the Indo-Pacific appropriations directly reinforce the submarine industrial base. While this investment will enhance deterrence in the Indo-Pacific, the immediate impact will be supporting the American economy.” 3 hours ago

Chen Jining “Whether China and the U.S. choose cooperation or confrontation, it affects the well-being of both peoples, of both nations, and also the future of humanity.” 6 hours ago
  • Xi Jinping
Xi Jinping “I proposed mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation to be the three overarching principles. They are both lessons learned from the past and a guide for the future.” 7 hours ago
  • Xie Tao
Xie Tao “China knows that it likely has little room to sway the United States on trade. The Chinese government seems to be putting its focus on people-to-people exchanges. The Chinese government is really investing a lot of energy in shaping the future generation of Americans' view of China.” 7 hours ago
  • Yi Wang
Yi Wang “The United States has adopted an endless stream of measures to suppress China's economy, trade, science and technology. This is not fair competition but containment, and is not removing risks but creating risks.” 7 hours ago
  • Antony Blinken
Antony Blinken “China alone is producing more than 100 percent of global demand for products like solar panels and electric vehicles, and was responsible for one-third of global production but only one-tenth of global demand. This is a movie that we've seen before, and we know how it ends. With American businesses shuttered and American jobs lost.” 7 hours ago
  • Antony Blinken
Antony Blinken “Russia would struggle to sustain its assault on Ukraine without China's support. I made clear that if China does not address this problem, we will.” 7 hours ago
  • Bernie Sanders

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with the Taiwanese people. We certainly want to help in the defense of Taiwan, which is very important. We want to deter the Chinese Communist Party and any military provocations. The US Congress stands with our friends, and stands for democracy and the principles you all try to advance. Taipei and Washington have an important relationship and we all want to strengthen that.”

“I want to tell everyone that the existence of Taiwan and Taiwanese people's insistence on freedom and democracy are not a provocation to anyone. As president, my calling is to make every effort to let Taiwan still be the Taiwan of the Taiwanese people.”

“Sixty-four years ago during the Aug. 23 battle, our soldiers and civilians operated in solidarity and safeguarded Taiwan, so that we have the democratic Taiwan today. That battle to protect our homeland showed the world that no threat of any kind could shake the Taiwanese people's resolve to defend their nation, not in the past, not now, and not in the future. We too will show the world that the people of Taiwan have both the resolve and confidence to safeguard peace, security, freedom and prosperity for ourselves. As Taiwan stands on the front line of authoritarian expansionism we continue to bolster our defence autonomy, and we will also continue to work with the United States on this front.”

“It is my view that the US government should immediately take necessary and long-overdue steps to do the right and obvious thing, that is, to offer the Republic of China America's diplomatic recognition as a free and sovereign country. This is not about Taiwan's future independence. It is about a recognition of an unmistakable, already existent reality. There is no need for Taiwan to declare independence because it is already an independent nation. Its name is the Republic of China. The people and government of the United States should simply accept this fundamentally decent, morally right thing. Taiwanese people deserve the world's respect for continuing down this free, democratic and sovereign path.”

“But there should be absolutely no illusions that the Taiwanese people will bow to pressure. We will continue to bolster our national defence and demonstrate our determination to defend ourselves in order to ensure that nobody can force Taiwan to take the path China has laid out for us. This is because the path that China has laid out offers neither a free and democratic way of life for Taiwan, nor sovereignty for our 23 million people. The more we achieve, the greater the pressure we face from China. So I want to remind all my fellow citizens that we do not have the privilege of letting down our guard.”

“The democratic government of Taiwan should be allowed to participate in an equal and dignified manner within the UN system. There is absolutely nothing in General Assembly Resolution 2758 which prevents this inclusive approach, and this resolution affords nothing to hide behind, as it expresses no position on Taiwan. As a people-centric institution, the UN cannot ignore the Taiwanese people or continue to use their nationality to exclude them from attending public meetings or public tours at its headquarters. The shameful silence must end.”
