  • Peter Ricketts
Peter Ricketts “Netanyahu must have calculated when he hit the Iranian Consulate in Damascus that the Iranians would retaliate, and that this would swing the Americans and their Western allies behind Israel. And that's worked, remarkably well. It's all gain for Netanyahu if he has the wisdom to take the win, or at least to retaliate in a limited way.” 20 minutes ago
  • Daniel Levy
Daniel Levy “There's been this united public response defending Israel on Iran, with strong private messaging to Israel, 'Don't you dare'. While on Gaza, there's a lot of public hand-wringing but a lack of will to be tough in private. Gaza doesn't directly pull the United States into a war. So, they still believe they can tiptoe through the raindrops.” 28 minutes ago
  • Vali R. Nasr
Vali R. Nasr “If every time Israel decides to punish Iran, it creates a massive tumult in Washington and London, these countries are going to pressure Israel. There's going to be a major international effort to build cordons around Israel's behavior toward Iran.” 35 minutes ago
  • Annalena Baerbock
Annalena Baerbock “Iran is playing with the fate of all people in the Middle East and has led an entire region to the brink of the abyss. The aim now is to stop Iran without further escalation. Iran's plan to sow further violence must not work. Israel has our full solidarity and can rely on us. We also do not forget the many dozens of Israeli hostages who are still being held captive in Hamas tunnels. They must finally be released.” 49 minutes ago
  • Herzi Halevi
Herzi Halevi “Iran's attack on the country will be met with a response. When we look ahead, we consider our steps. The launch of so many cruise missiles and drones into Israeli territory will be met with a response.” 20 hours ago
  • John Kirby
John Kirby “Iran's massive aerial attack on Israel was a spectacular and embarrassing failure. We've seen reporting that the Iranians meant to fail, and this spectacular and embarrassing failure was all by design. All of this is categorically false.” 20 hours ago

“The barricades in the north will not be tolerated for too long. I cannot say it is a civic protest when there are armed people there [at the barricades] who want to return Kosovo to 1999 and who hold up slogans and photos of despotic [Russian President Vladimir] Putin.”

“The Russian President must accept that there is a community of law-based democracies in his neighbourhood that is growing ever closer together. He clearly fears the spark of democracy spreading to his country.”

“President Joe Biden will hold a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday afternoon to discuss a range of topics, including upcoming diplomatic engagements with Russia. The call was requested by Putin and Biden accepted because he believes when it comes to Russia there is no substitute for direct leader-leader dialogue. The Biden Administration continues to engage in extensive diplomacy with our European Allies and partners, consulting and coordinating on a common approach in response to Russia's military build-up on the border with Ukraine. President Biden has spoken with leaders across Europe, and Biden Administration officials have engaged multilaterally with (the North Atlantic Treaty Organization), the (European Union), and the (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe). They have also held numerous consultations with counterparts, including those from eastern flank countries bilaterally and in the (Bucharest Nine) format as well as Ukraine.”
