  • Alan Boswell
Alan Boswell “The Sudanese have basically been forgotten, obviously there's the war in Gaza which has taken a lot of attention. Frankly it would take very high-level political focus on trying to pressure those who are arming the various sides and have the actual belligerence themselves to stop this. Obviously, the United Nations tools are not very functional.” 1 hour ago
  • Benjamin Netanyahu
Benjamin Netanyahu “No amount of pressure … will stop Israel from defending itself and achieving its war objectives. Eighty years ago in the Holocaust, the Jewish people were totally defenceless against those who sought our destruction. No nation came to our aid. I pledge here today from Jerusalem on this Holocaust Remembrance Day: If Israel is forced to stand alone, Israel will stand alone. But we know we are not alone because countless decent people around the world support our just cause.” 4 hours ago
  • Vladimir Putin
Vladimir Putin “We know what the exorbitance of such ambitions leads to. Russia will do everything to prevent a global clash. But at the same time, we will not allow anyone to threaten us. Our strategic forces are always in a state of combat readiness.” 4 hours ago
  • Daoud Kuttab
Daoud Kuttab “Throughout this Israeli war on Gaza, there hasn't been a warning publicly made by the US that Israel has heeded. It is indeed unclear to what extent such warnings are just optics of putting pressure on the Israeli government while continuing to support its every move. In this sense, one should take with a grain of salt reports that the Biden administration is holding off one shipment of weapons to Israel to pressure it into halting the full-scale invasion of Rafah.” 21 hours ago
  • Bernie Sanders
Bernie Sanders “The US must now use ALL its leverage to demand an immediate ceasefire, the end of the attacks on Rafah, and the immediate delivery of massive amounts of humanitarian aid to people living in desperation. Our leverage is clear. Over the years, the United States has provided tens of billions of dollars in military aid to Israel.” 23 hours ago
  • Lloyd Austin
Lloyd Austin “We've been very clear … from the very beginning that Israel shouldn't launch a major attack into Rafah without accounting for and protecting the civilians that are in that battlespace. We've not made a final determination on how to proceed with that shipment [of weapons].” 23 hours ago
  • Vuk Vuksanović
Vuk Vuksanović “This visit [Xi Jinping in Belgrade] shows that Serbia has exchanged Russia for China went it comes to its main partner to bargain with the West. The full-scale invasion of Ukraine placed the Serbo-Russian relationship under close monitoring, so the government sees a benefit in playing the Chinese card more often now since it's deemed to be less provocative. The Balkans, and Serbia in particular, have become even more interesting for China now that one branch of the Belt and Road Initiative through Russia and Belarus was effectively cut off with the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.” 23 hours ago
  • Aleksandar Vucic
Aleksandar Vucic “I told him [Xi Jinping] that as the leader of a great power he will be met with respect all over the world, but the reverence and love he encounters in our Serbia will not be found anywhere else. When it comes to cooperation with Beijing, the sky is the limit.” 23 hours ago

“Aside from entry ban, we would not allow the companies or paymasters of these diehard secessionists [You Si-kun, Su Tseng-chang, Joseph Wu] to profit from Chinese mainland, and will also take other measures to punish them. We want to tell these diehard secessionists that those who forget their heritage, betray their motherland, and seek to split the country will come to no good end and will be disdained by the people and condemned by history. The Chinese mainland will seek criminal responsibility for them, valid for life.”

“All this EU-Taiwan activity now is the result of Taiwan's efforts to be a meaningful partner for the EU, either in value or in concrete cooperation. Taiwan is also a showcase for the EU to promote its value-oriented policy in the Indo-Pacific area. Minister Wu's [Joseph Wu] visit to Europe was initiated by member states, not the EU, but it shows that member states are also more willing and open-minded to explore the possibilities to cooperate with Taiwan on many issues.”

“Representatives from the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) - a body of some 200 global parliamentarians - will gather in Rome to stage a counter-meeting ahead of the G20 Leaders Summit to demand a tougher stance towards the Chinese government. The conference, taking place on the 29th of October, will see parliamentarians from five continents meet with prominent leaders of groups targeted by the Chinese government, including Taiwanese Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration Penpa Tsering, former Hong Kong legislator Nathan Law and Uyghur artist and activist Rahima Mahmut. Earlier this year the Chinese government imposed travel bans and other sanctions on nine IPAC members, including former UK Conservative leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith MP, Belgian Green MP Samuel Cogolati, EPP MEP Miriam Lexmann and Lithuanian Social Democratic MP Dovilė Šakalienė - all of whom will be present at the Rome conference. Chinese state controlled media outlets have frequently criticised the work of IPAC parliamentarians, with the Global Times branding IPAC as a 'malevolent' and 'nuisance' alliance.”
