  • Ants Kiviselg
Ants Kiviselg “The Russian Armed Forces are advancing on the recently opened Kharkiv front, but their pace is slowing down. This and the nature of their behaviour rather indicate a desire to create a buffer zone. Russian troops have attacked and destroyed important bridges in the area of Vovchansk, which creates a natural barrier between Ukrainian and Russian forces. This is more an indication of the intention of Russian forces to build a defensive line than to create a bridgehead for an advance on Kharkiv.” 50 minutes ago
  • Vladimir Putin
Vladimir Putin “Russia is ready and able to continuously power the Chinese economy, businesses, cities and towns with affordable and environmentally clean energy.” 56 minutes ago
  • Alexey Muraviev
Alexey Muraviev “There are limits to the two nations' ties, despite their insistence that it is limitless. The limits are that the two countries don't have a formal alliance agreement. To me, that's very clearly a sign that there are limitations to what seems to be a limitless relationship. Neither side is prepared to unconditionally commit to support each other on issues like Ukraine.” 57 minutes ago
  • Sue Mi Terry
Sue Mi Terry “Now is not the time to lift sanctions, either. Now, in fact, is the time to double down. If Biden wants to prevent North Korea from acting out, he needs to first provide the government with new incentives to talk-and that means new restrictions Washington can use as carrots. Biden, in other words, needs to take North Korean policy off autopilot and launch a proactive effort to deter Pyongyang. Otherwise, he risks encouraging an already emboldened Kim to stage a major provocation.” 17 hours ago
  • Christopher Cavoli
Christopher Cavoli “Russians don't have the numbers necessary to do a strategic breakthrough. More to the point, they don't have the skill and capability to do it, to operate at the scale necessary to exploit any breakthrough to strategic advantage. They do have the ability to make local advances and they have done some of that.” 18 hours ago
  • Nazar Voloshin
Nazar Voloshin “The situation in the Kharkiv sector remains complicated but is evolving in a dynamic manner. Our defence forces have partially stabilised the situation. The advance of the enemy in certain zones and localities has been halted.” 23 hours ago
  • Volodymyr Zelenskiy
Volodymyr Zelenskiy “The situation in the Kharkiv region is generally under control, and our soldiers are inflicting significant losses on the occupier. However, the area remains extremely difficult.” 23 hours ago
  • Bezalel Smotrich
Bezalel Smotrich “Defense Minister Gallant announced today his support for the establishment of a Palestinian terrorist state as a reward for terrorism and Hamas for the most terrible massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.” 23 hours ago
  • Yoav Gallant
Yoav Gallant “I must reiterate … I will not agree to the establishment of Israeli military rule in Gaza. Israel must not establish civilian rule in Gaza.” 23 hours ago

“We don't have anything else. This patient should be in hospital but because of overcrowding he was transferred to the field hospital. We have dozens like this patient. We have children it's hard to treat. We change their dressings one day and the next we find infection because there is no sterilisation, there are no specialised places. There are no bin bags.”

“In February, a complete field hospital will be handed over, including the necessary training, all co-financed by Germany with 5.3 million euros ($6.0 million). We are standing on Kyiv's side. We must do everything to de-escalate the situation. Weapons deliveries would not be helpful at the moment - that is the consensus within the government. There is no Russian veto-right for membership to NATO. Every sovereign nation that shares our values is free to apply for membership. But beyond this red line, there is readiness from the West to speak with Russia and to take its interests into account.”

“If you are planning to build a field hospital in a car park and to care for patients in an understaffed tent. I think you can justify stopping a few New Year's Eve parties and asking everyone to stay at home for a fortnight.”
