Theresa Fallon “Many people would like to see China play a constructive role, but I think now that we're in the third year of the war, this idea is wearing a bit thin.” 4 hours ago

Mahjoob Zweiri “What we have witnessed in the past few hours is that they talk about an agreement on the first stage. It could be understood that Hamas wants to release itself from the pressure globally, including the United States. So, they are giving concessions on the first stage, which leads to 40 days of ceasefire and exchange of captives. I think 33 old and sick captives. And then moving on to other stages. But we are seeing that we are going back to the main conditions, which means we are still talking about the main principles [complete ceasefire and withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza] that Hamas talked about. As the time of some sort of agreement on the first stage came, the Israeli military and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu came to say actually, there is no agreement: We will go to Rafah regardless of any agreement. It reflects the divisions within the Israelis and crisis within the Israeli politics. On the other hand, Hamas has been more cautious. They do not want to show real progress made but they also do not want to say things have not changed. I think it's obvious some change has happened otherwise we would not expect [CIA chief] William Burns to be in the region.” 4 hours ago

“Double resignations, a double bombshell for Boris Johnson and his future as the prime minister of the United Kingdom. I think it will be very, very difficult for him to survive such a step from two key allies.”

“The consequences of Boris Johnson's failure to prepare or plan are being felt across our country. The government must now bring together businesses and trade unions to develop a proper plan, both for the immediate crisis, as well as to tackle the long-term issues that have led us here.”

“We need truth-telling from the government. It is not just about net zero targets for the middle of this century, it is not just about coalition for action in various areas … and it is certainly not about Boris Johnson having a moment to have a good photo-opportunity. This is incredibly serious and incredibly hard and we have to be honest.”

“In utter hypocrisy, Boris Johnson is 'concerned about Iran developing a viable nuclear weapon'. On the very same day he announces his country will increase its stockpile of nukes. Unlike the UK and allies, Iran believes nukes [nuclear] and all WMDs [Weapons of Mass Destructions] are barbaric & must be eradicated.”

“Those who were hoping for negotiation to move swiftly forward this week will have been disappointed. And unfortunately I too am frankly, disappointed and concerned and surprised, as well, I must say, because the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson told us in June, that he wished to speed up a negotiating process during the summer.”
