  • Mahmoud Abbas
Mahmoud Abbas “We stand ready to work with you [Donald Trump] to achieve peace during you tenure. This would be guided by the two-state solution on international legitimacy. This vision seeks the establishment of the State of Palestine and the State of Israel living side by side in peace and security.” 1 hour ago
  • Craig Kennedy
Craig Kennedy “Moscow now faces a dilemma: the longer it puts off a ceasefire, the greater the risk that credit events - such as corporate and bank bailouts - uncontrollably arise and weaken Moscow's negotiating leverage.” 1 hour ago
  • Recep Tayyip Erdogan
Recep Tayyip Erdogan “As regards the issue of natural gas, Slovakia was disconnected from gas with termination of transit via Ukraine. We discussed this matter, we have the TurkStream gas pipeline. Let's make a step and discuss this topic at the level of energy ministers. The demand of Slovakia for natural gas should be satisfied. I suggested solving this issue through talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Mr. Putin. I hope we will be able to have communications, to start telephone diplomacy as early as this week.” 1 hour ago
  • Emmanuel Macron
Emmanuel Macron “The challenge after the fighting ends will be to provide Ukraine with guarantees against any return to war on its territory and guarantees for our own security.” 2 hours ago
  • Yara Hawari
Yara Hawari “While the Gaza ceasefire is a positive step the danger to the occupied West Bank from an Israeli invasion continues to rise. It's brought about a huge amount of relief that the bombardment will stop, but I think crucially the ceasefire does not mean an end to the occupation neither in Gaza or the West Bank. So people are under no illusion that this means an end to Israeli control over their lives. I think people are pessimistic as to whether the ceasefire will actually hold because they know the Israeli regime is already trying to sabotage it. The situation in the occupied West Bank remains as precarious as ever. We saw a year of genocide in Gaza go unchecked so the big question is could they do the same in the West Bank? I'm afraid without accountability measures the answer is yes.” 6 hours ago
  • Joe Biden
Joe Biden “These are exceptional circumstances, and I cannot in good conscience do nothing. Baseless and politically motivated investigations wreak havoc on the lives, safety and financial security of targeted individuals and their families. The issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgment that any individual engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offense. Our nation owes these public servants a debt of gratitude for their tireless commitment to our country.” 6 hours ago
  • Ali Jarbawi
Ali Jarbawi “Hamas's parades through Gaza on Sunday are more than a message to the international community that it is in control. They also reflect the reality on the ground. Hamas was there before the war and they're there now.” 16 hours ago
  • Ibrahim Madhoun
Ibrahim Madhoun “The message is that Hamas is 'the day after' for the war. They're conveying that Hamas must be a part of any future arrangements, or at least, be coordinated with.” 16 hours ago

“The use of coercion and force by authoritarian powers are serious challenges to all members of democratic society, and it is with urgency that democracies must establish strong national defense. Cooperation among democracies is more important than ever, as authoritarian regimes become stronger and more confident, and even collude with each other in the pursuit of their interests. The challenges posed by authoritarian regimes are exacerbated by issues like inflation, unemployment and an economic downturn. The Ukrainian case woke democracies up to the fact that our adversaries have no reservations about boosting their military arsenals. And they have been relentless in exerting ever-greater pressure on us, including through the increasing use of 'gray zone' activities. Effectively deterring the expansion of authoritarianism is a cornerstone of safeguarding democratic institutions and maintaining global order, and is the reason that continued support for Ukraine is imperative. A Ukrainian victory will serve as the most effective deterrence against future aggression.”

“There is more ideological diversity here than I expected. And if you look at this group in the context of history, there is some potential here for arguments and debates. If those debates are allowed to unfold in a civilized and open manner, history shows that such conflict has sometimes led to policies that worked.”

“The $1.3 trillion developing countries are asking us to tackle the climate emergency and it ISN'T about taxing grandmothers for example in Lancashire in the UK to pay for the climate crisis. The money can be raised through the 'polluter pays principle'. For example: A levy on high frequency air travellers, Taxing the super rich who are often high emitters, Taxing the profits of the fossil fuel giants who have caused this mess, A report by Global Witness showed that since the war in Ukraine began the five biggest oil companies have made $281 billion profit. A report by Christian Aid showed how a tax on excess fossil fuel profits could raise £13 billion.”

“The stakes in the two polls are high. Firstly Romania is faced with two important realities next year: the threat of further instability and conflict in the region and globally, especially in the context of a [President-elect Donald] Trump White House. Secondly, the risks of deepening economic and financial crisis, given that [Romania is] currently running one of the highest twin budget deficits and inflation rates in the EU and the cost of commodities has continued to increase while government expenditure has stayed high (largely because of the bloated state apparatus). Voters care about the cost of living, bringing down inflation, and the budget deficit, which are among the highest in the EU. They also care about fiscal predictability and avoiding potentially very strict austerity measures. The threat of regional instability and war is also a source of concern. Voters care about candidates' positions on Ukraine, Russia, Trump, the extent of their Euro-Atlantic orientation. Voters are also focused on the presidential candidates' ability to lead the country in case of escalating tensions with Russia.”

“The deal must deliver a transformative scale of finance that prioritises the urgent needs of communities bearing the brunt of the escalating climate crisis. True progress will be measured not by promises on paper, but by tangible support for the most vulnerable, ensuring that justice and equity remain at the heart of climate solutions.”

“It was clear from day one that Saudi Arabia and other fossil fuel-producing countries were going to do everything in their power to weaken the landmark Cop28 agreement on fossil fuels. At Cop29 they have deployed obstructionist tactics to dilute action on the energy transition.”

“We will not allow the most vulnerable, especially the small island states, to be ripped off by the few rich fossil-fuel emitters who have the backing, unfortunately, at this moment of the president [of the Cop].”

“Grants and loans at very low interest rates from developed countries should make up $600bn of the money needed. Anything lower than that will not help the world tackle climate change.”

“The army is not doing well in the town of Khiam close to the border. It is trying to push on the western flank, because the advance of the Division 146 along the coastal road gives more protection from the seaside and the navy. But for that, it needs to control the high ground and make sure it is 'cleaning' the resistance forces between Chamaa, Naqoura and al-Bayada - which it has not yet achieved. There are large areas in Bint Jbeil, Marjayoun, and Labbouneh that are still not under Israeli military control. Israel is trying to gain time by saying it wants a ceasefire and hopes it can achieve those operational goals in the next couple of months. The job of the resistance is to harass the invasion forces and make sure they cannot stay in any high ground or static position.”

“The advancing country loses the ability to perform operational tasks. What are these tasks? This is an advance to a depth of 150-200 kilometres, as set out by Soviet standards. When robots began to appear on the battlefield en masse, they made it impossible for soldiers to move. The inability to fight the robots led to a stupor. We couldn't move against the Russians, and the Russians, accordingly, couldn't move, either. This situation is still the same because we don't see the Russians being able to perform such tasks as, for example, covering 150-200 kilometres in a week. Per my theory, the ability to push through will be restored when this technical and evolutionary process is completed and technological materials are stockpiled. I estimate that this could happen sometime after 2027. But it is not yet a fact that it will be 2027, given the economic and demographic situation, and that someone will claim to wage wars of such a scale as overcoming the enemy's territory.”
