  • Péter Szijjártó
Péter Szijjártó “There are those who want to send soldiers to Ukraine. Others are already speculating about the use of nuclear weapons. Every day the threat of a world war is getting closer. We see what is happening: European politicians are making statements about the use of nuclear weapons. The Russians are conducting exercises involving tactical nuclear weapons. The time has come to stop this madness. Hungary has long stated that it is impossible to resolve the Ukrainian conflict militarily. That is why Hungary continues to tell its European partners that instead of indulging in crazy statements and fantasies that threaten to escalate [hostilities] they should spend at least half of their energy on achieving peace. Then there may be hope that this war will end at the negotiating table.” 1 hour ago
  • Wen-Ti Sung
Wen-Ti Sung “This round of military drills is code-named 'Joint Sword-2024A'. The suffix 'A' suggests there may be future rounds B, and possibly C. Beijing is showing muscle in the immediate wake of [Lai Ching-te] Lai's presidential inauguration to unmistakably signal Beijing's displeasure. But this is the 'signal'. The real 'punishment' is yet to come.” 4 hours ago
  • Bonnie Glaser
Bonnie Glaser “The PRC [People's Republic of China] evidently decided to wait until he delivered his [Lai Ching-te] inaugural address and then determine their response. It's clear that Beijing strongly objects to what they view as an attempt to develop a comprehensive 'Taiwan independence' narrative with the goal of altering the nature of cross-strait relations. I expect that they will roll out a series of military, political, and economic measures over the coming weeks and months.” 4 hours ago
  • Yoav Gallant
Yoav Gallant “This action [ground offensive in Rafah] will go on and on, more forces from the ground, more forces from the air, and we will reach our goals.” 5 hours ago
  • Dmytro Kuleba
Dmytro Kuleba “This horrific attack [on Kharkiv and Lyubotyn] should remind everyone around the world that Ukraine still urgently needs seven Patriot systems. We are very grateful to Germany for announcing another system. But getting six more as soon as possible remains critical not only for Ukraine's survival, but also for peace in Europe. Everyone should be clearly aware of what is being said. Every day of delay and debate not only costs lives, but also brings the possibility of a larger war in Europe closer.” 5 hours ago

French public opinion about the European Union integrations of the Western Balkans

Page with all the IPSEs stored in the archive related to the Context French public opinion about the European Union integrations of the Western Balkans.
The IPSEs are presented in chronological order based on when the IPSEs have been pronounced.

“In France, there is this pro-EU argument to be against enlargement. This is probably what president Macron thinks, which is why the new methodology is not enough per se, although we do not know how it will be implemented. It can only work if everyone plays fair – candidates but also all the members. [Recalling the Croatia's accession to the EU] No one could say that the political, social, financial, or demographic balance in the EU changed by an inch after Croatia integrated and that the same would work for Montenegro or North Macedonia. As far as [French] public opinion is concerned – it is true that Macron would not lose one vote by opening negotiations with Albania or North Macedonia, but the fact that they believed the opposite despite every evidence, matters.”
