Karine Jean-Pierre “Americans have the right to peacefully protest. Forcibly taking over a building is not peaceful.” 7 hours ago
  • Janet Yellen
Janet Yellen “Treasury has consistently warned that companies will face significant consequences for providing material support for Russia's war, and the U.S. is imposing them today on almost 300 targets.” 7 hours ago
  • Catherine Russell
Catherine Russell “Over 200 days of war have already killed or maimed tens of thousands of children in Gaza. For hundreds of thousands of children in the border city of Rafah, there is added fear of an escalated military operation that would bring catastrophe on top of catastrophe for children. Nearly all of the some 600,000 children now crammed into Rafah are either injured, sick, malnourished, traumatised or living with disabilities.” 7 hours ago
  • Eric Adams
Eric Adams “We cannot allow what should be a lawful protest to turn into a violent spectacle that saves and serves no purpose. There's no place for acts of hate in our city. I want to continue to commend the professionalism of the police department and to thank Columbia University. It was a tough decision, we understood that. But with the very clear evidence of their observation and the clear evidence from our intelligence division, that they understood it was time to move and the action had to end and we brought it to a peaceful conclusion.” 16 hours ago
  • Sergei Shoigu
Sergei Shoigu “To maintain the required pace of the offensive … it is necessary to increase the volume and quality of weapons and military equipment supplied to the troops, primarily weapons.” 16 hours ago

EU - Bosnia relations

“We have realised that it is not enough to just wait for the Western Balkans to move closer to us. It is not enough to say that the door is open. We must also take responsibility, and support their path towards our union in any possible way... More progress has been achieved in just over a year than in over a decade. First, Bosnia and Herzegovina is now fully aligned with our foreign and security policy, which is crucial in these times of geopolitical turmoil. The country is showing that it can deliver on the membership criteria, and on its citizens' aspiration to be part of our family. The message coming from Bosnia and Herzegovina is clear. So our message must be clear too. The future of Bosnia and Herzegovina lies in our union.”

“The announcements of Dodik and Republika Srpska are extremely dangerous and playing with the integrity of the state, and this is for us a no-go. Bosnia and the Balkans must not become a playground for actors outside Europe.”

“We have to do two things - one is to ensure that BiH shares those growth parameters with the rest of the region, and the other is for Europe to recognize the economic potential that this region has. I am fully convinced that Europe will understand, within a reasonable period of time, that you need to be part of the European Union. Of course, I talked to my interlocutors about all these topics, but it is also very important to emphasize that what we need to ensure is that BiH remains united, sovereign, with preserved territorial integrity.”

“I understand that 'both-sideism' is always a safe option for every diplomat, but the consequences of such an approach are well known from the 1990s. If they are not willing to react because of the people of Bosnia, they should do it at least because of the leaders in their countries who cannot afford yet another refugee crisis or a Russian-backed conflict right next to the NATO borders. Pro-Bosnian political leaders and state institutions must be prepared for dangerous scenarios.”

“Building bridges between people, countries, and cultures, that is so crucial for our common future. Because Bosnia and Herzegovina, and all the Western Balkans, belong in the European Union. It is in our common interest, but I also believe, it is our destiny.”

“I'm counting on the close cooperation with the EU and the US. And as far as my duties are concerned, I'll see the BiH Presidency and state institutions as my primary partners, which is in line with the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitution. With the help of the international community, BiH will return to the international agenda. We will all work together to meet the 14 priorities for BiH's accession to the EU. Work will also be done on the 5 + 2 program, more specifically, I will work on it, and especially on the protection of the territorial integrity of BiH.”

“By treating all 14 issues as being of equal importance and demanding substantial constitutional changes in exchange for candidacy status with an unclear perspective, the EU tries to achieve too much while offering too little, risking progress even on those issues that are not contested.”

“Good to meet Bosnia and Herzegovina Foreign minister Bisera Turković. Positive steps in reform agenda, but BiH needs to further advance from Dayton to Brussels. Cooperation on Migration and EU support to the region in tackling consequences of COVID19 will continue.”
