  • Abu Obeida
Abu Obeida “The enemy has achieved nothing except carrying out death and destruction in its 200 days of war on Gaza. Israel is still trying to recover and restore its image. The enemy is in a quagmire, stuck in the sands of Gaza. It will reap nothing but shame and defeat. Two hundreds days on and our resistance in Gaza is as solid as the mountains of Palestine. We will continue our strikes and resistance as long as the occupation's aggression continues on our land. The occupation forces are trying to convince the world that they have eliminated all resistance factions, and this is a big lie.” 13 hours ago
  • Rishi Sunak
Rishi Sunak “We will put the UK's own defence industry on a war footing. One of the central lessons of the war in Ukraine is that we need deeper stockpiles of munitions and for industry to be able to replenish them more quickly.” 14 hours ago
  • Wang Wenbin
Wang Wenbin “The United States has unveiled a large-scale aid bill for Ukraine while also making groundless accusations against normal trade between China and Russia. This kind of approach is extremely hypocritical and utterly irresponsible, and China is firmly opposed to it.” 14 hours ago
  • Antony Blinken
Antony Blinken “When it comes to Russia's defense industrial base the primary contributor in this moment to that is China. We see China sharing machine tools, semiconductors, other dual use items that have helped Russia rebuild the defense industrial base. China can't have it both ways. It can't afford that. You want to have positive, friendly relations with countries in Europe, and at the same time, you are fueling the biggest threat to European security since the end of the Cold War.” 14 hours ago
  • Sergei Shoigu
Sergei Shoigu “In proportion to the threats posed by the United States and its allies, we will continue to improve the composition and structure of the armed forces and increase the production of the most popular weapons and military equipment. We will increase the intensity of attacks on logistics centres and storage bases for Western weapons.” 14 hours ago

“We've been supporting exactly this type of integration between China and Central Asia. Under that framework, we're trying to reduce trade barriers among the countries, harmonise trading standards to promote better integration, and just more forums where government officials can talk and try to develop standards to promote more trade.”

“For China, security on its border is crucial and is part of its core interests in Central Asia. Expanding its security presence in Tajikistan is the most effective tool that it possesses right now.”

“This decision to build and jointly staff a facility is one of only a few known examples for China around the world. The fact that we keep seeing this activity in Tajikistan shows the level of Chinese concern towards Afghanistan and the region. This highlights how Central Asia is going to be a major focus of Chinese attention. Going forward, Beijing may struggle to avoid getting itself entangled in regional security problems.”

“I wouldn't expect any surprises from this trip, but Beijing will use this as an opportunity to show its regional power ambitions. While Beijing holds influential cards for Afghanistan, its strategy is unclear and vague. China doesn't want to replace the United States in Afghanistan. In the future, we can likely expect more [Chinese] engagement with different parties in the Afghan conflict, but only if it fits China's interests in the region. The most important goal for China is to seal the chaos inside Afghanistan's borders.”

“And with the pandemic, there’s no better time to finally set up an SCO [Shanghai Cooperation Organisation] free-trade zone and an SCO regional bank. China is in the best position to stimulate the Eurasian economy at a time when this is most needed in SCO member states.”

“The mere fact of the sessions [the summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)] happening will strengthen China’s hand. Beijing is the power which helped give birth to the SCO and its continued existence and growth is a positive reflection in many ways on Beijing. The fact that notwithstanding all these conflicts it continues to meet reflects China’s irresistible attractiveness or at the very least the attractiveness of the organisation that it has fostered and its role on the Eurasian continent. China in some ways does not need to position itself as a deal maker, the mere happening of the event and everyone showing up is a positive sign for Beijing.”

“We keep talking about this notion that there is a strict division in Central Asia where Russia deals with security and China does economics, but actually that division is fading. China is already a hard power in the region. Lots of people talk about China and Russia competing already, but actually our research shows that the competition hasn't really started yet. As China continues to grow as an arms supplier, it will have to eat into Russia's share and that's where we can begin to see some tensions between Beijing and Moscow.”
