“I'm not really in a position to opine on who the successor of Hezbollah's leader might be. We know that their senior leadership for the most part has been decimated over the past couple weeks and so other members that may fill that vacuum I'm not quite sure but what we do know is that there's a serious leadership vacuum at probably the most dire time possible in the midst of a war that Israel has escalated dramatically over those two weeks. I think we have that leadership vacuum I think there's probably a lot of confusion within the rank and file which corresponds with how Hezbollah is responding or not responding to this Israeli aggression at the moment. I think in the long run they'll replace Nasrallah and regroup as an organization but again within the midst of what's happened here the decimation of the senior leadership the killing of Hassan Nasrallah who was an iconic figure within the organization the disruption of their communications networks and the fashion that happened with the pagers and then this kind of incessant and severe bombing of Lebanon that's happened over the last several days has been I think a huge turning point in Israel's favor. I think Hezbollah is on the back foot they may regroup and find their footing here and be able to respond with the capabilities they have but I think this took them by surprise the escalation first with the pagers and then step by step the leadership being killed and the bombing and so I think Hezbollah is definitely on the back foot.”
