“Once again, the US's veto demonstrated a policy of it's my way or the highway. Palestine could only be a country the way the United States sees it, or Israel sees it, only at the time that it's suitable to the United States and within the geopolitics and the global interest of the United States. The US is sacrificing the freedom of Palestinian people for egotistical and narrow interests of the United States and Israel.”

“Tariffs are currently 7.5 percent on electric vehicle battery packs but 25 percent on the components of those packs. The lower rate should be raised. China had long steered its subsidies to companies that manufacture and source their products in China - and sometimes had required those companies to be Chinese-owned. In order to build up industrial sectors where China has a first-mover advantage and now a cost advantage you need to have an insulated market - and to use some of the tools that China has already used.”

“China's policy-driven overcapacity poses a serious risk to the future of the American steel and aluminum industry. China cannot export its way to recovery. China is simply too big to play by its own rules.”

“War is a physical human endeavour and you have a force that is utterly exhausted, not slightly fatigued. It's a heavily attritional war. It's messy, it's bloody, there is nothing glorious about this. The glide bombs that are currently used are hugely devastating. They're cheap to make. They are pretty damn accurate and they can be adapted really quickly. They are fast and [the Russians] have a lot of them. This is a war of mass cost and pace. That's the operational factor on the ground.”

“We are in a situation where basically everybody can claim victory. Iran can say that it took revenge, Israel can say it defeated the Iranian attack and the United States can say it successfully deterred Iran and defended Israel. If we get into another round of tit for tat, it can easily spiral out of control, not just for Iran and Israel, but for the rest of the region and the entire world.”

“Whether it's munitions, whether it's vehicles, whether it's platforms, I'll just tell you that Ukraine right now is facing some dire battlefield conditions. We're already seeing things on the battlefield begin to shift a bit in Russia's favour. We are seeing them make incremental gains. We're seeing the Ukrainians be challenged in terms of holding the line.”

“Despite China's opposition, the US passed and signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023, which contains negative content concerning China. China deplores and firmly opposes this US move, and has made serious démarches to the US. This Act, in total disregard of facts, hypes up the 'China threat' narrative, blatantly interferes in China's internal affairs, and attacks and discredits the Communist Party of China (CPC). This is a serious political provocation against China. The leadership of the CPC is the choice of history and the people. The Chinese people are clear-eyed about the US's ill intention of suppressing and containing China's development and thwarting the Chinese nation's rejuvenation. Attempts to drive a wedge between the Chinese people and the CPC will not succeed.”
“We are fully prepared for any eventuality. The People's Liberation Army [PLA] will never sit by idly. China will take strong and resolute measures to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
“We urge relevant US politicians to earnestly abide by the one-China principle, and immediately stop official exchanges with Taiwan in any form and refrain from sending any wrong signals to the 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces. China will continue to take forceful measures to resolutely safeguard China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
“I stated China's solemn position on US lawmakers' visit to Taiwan yesterday. China firmly opposes any form of official interaction between the US and the Taiwan region. Members of the US Congress should act in consistence with the US government's one-China policy. The US side should abide by the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US joint communiqués, stop official exchanges with Taiwan and avoid making irresponsible remarks. The Chinese side will continue to take strong measures to resolutely safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity. I believe you have all noticed the statement released by the PLA Eastern Theater Command. The relevant moves by the Chinese army are a countermeasure to the US negative actions recently, including the lawmakers' visit to Taiwan.”
“There is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. The current situation across the Taiwan Strait faces a new round of tension. The root cause is that the Taiwan authorities have repeatedly tried to seek 'Taiwan independence' by soliciting US support, while some in the US intend to contain China with the Taiwan question. The US and Taiwan have colluded with each other, and certain individual deliberately draws parallel between Taiwan and Ukraine despite they are two fundamentally different issues. Their aim is to mislead the public and profit from that. It is such move of playing with fire that would change the status quo across the Taiwan Strait. The Taiwan question is a legacy of the Chinese civil war. China must and will be reunified. We will strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with utmost sincerity and efforts. That being said, we reserve the option of taking all necessary measures in response to the interference of foreign forces and the secessionist activities of a handful of 'Taiwan independence' separatists. The so-called 'Taiwan Relations Act' unilaterally concocted by the US side runs counter to the principles of the three China-US joint communiqués and basic norms governing international relations. China has been firmly opposed to it since the very beginning. The US has no right to put its domestic law above international law, still less use it as a pretext to meddle in China's internal affairs. On the Taiwan question, the US should abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, not the so-called 'Taiwan Relations Act'. The US should abide by the one-China principle and stipulations in the three China-US joint communiqués, cut off official interactions and military ties with Taiwan, stop arms sales to Taiwan and take concrete actions to fulfill its commitment of not supporting 'Taiwan independence'.”
“It is those countries that delude themselves into thinking that they can lord it over the world after winning the Cold War, those that keep driving NATO's eastward expansion five times in disregard of other countries' security concerns, and those that wage wars across the globe while accusing other countries of being belligerent, that should really feel 'uncomfortable'.”
“The US arms sales to the Taiwan region of China seriously violate the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, especially the August 17 Communiqué, gravely undermine China's sovereignty and security interests, and severely harm China-US relations and cross-Strait peace and stability. China firmly opposes this and strongly condemns this. China urges the US to abide by the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US joint communiqués, immediately revoke the arms sales plan, and stop arms sales to and military ties with Taiwan. China will take legitimate and strong measures to resolutely defend its sovereignty and security interests.”
“There is no cap on mutual trust between China and Russia, no forbidden areas for strategic cooperation and no end to friendship for generations of the two countries. The two countries consider each other as their diplomatic priorities, which a strategic choice based on their long-term development, with the fundamental aim of benefiting the two countries' peoples and maintaining world peace and stability, international justice and equity. China-Russia relationship is a true example of a new type of a major-country relationship. China and Russia are not interested in the Cold War mentality of either friend or foe and the so-called alliances and small circles cobbled together on the basis of selfish interests. Any attempt to demonize and provoke trouble is doomed to fail. We are ready to continue working with Russia to move forward firmly in the direction outlined by our two heads of state, to fully unleash the huge potential and advantages of cooperation between the two countries, injecting more stability and positive energy into the turbulent and changing world.”
“The measure maliciously denigrates the human rights situation in China's Xinjiang in disregard of facts and truth. It seriously violates international law and basic norms governing international relations and grossly interferes in China's internal affairs. China deplores and firmly rejects this.”
“The US has been fabricating the biggest lie of the century about so-called 'genocide' in Xinjiang, but it has long been debunked by facts. Based on its ideological biases as well as lies and rumors, the US attempts to interfere with the Beijing Winter Olympics, which will only expose its malicious intention and make it loose more moral principles and credibility. Speaking of 'genocide', the US fits this label better than anyone else for the evil crimes they committed against Native Americans. The US practice gravely violates the principle of political neutrality enshrined in the Olympic Charter, runs counter to the Olympic motto of 'together' and stands on the opposite side of global athletes and sports fans. China deplores and firmly opposes to the remarks of the US side and has lodged stern representations with the US and will respond with firm countermeasures.”
“The relevant Pentagon report fully exposes the true intention of the US to militarize the Indo-Pacific and go all out to encircle and contain China. The development of China's national defense forces is entirely out of the need to safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests and maintain international and regional peace and security. This is fundamentally different from the US' flagrant sabre-rattling around the world, hegemonic and bullying practices and disruption in regional peace and stability. We firmly oppose the US side's attempt to justify its moves to increase military expenditure, expand military build-up and maintain military hegemony with the 'China threat theory'. The US side should abandon the Cold-War mentality of creating imaginary enemies and stop words and deeds that threaten international peace and security.”
“Those offering platform to 'Taiwan independence' forces will find themselves in an embarrassing place. Those playing with fire with 'Taiwan independence' forces will end up getting burned. We have repeatedly stated our position. Democracy is a common value of all humanity, not the patent of a few countries. What the US has done shows exactly that it is only using democracy as a cover and tool to advance its geostrategic goals, suppress other countries, divide the world, and serve its selfish agenda of maintaining hegemony.”
“The Lithuanian government, in disregard of the Chinese side's strong objection and repeated dissuasion, has approved the establishment of the so-called 'Taiwanese Representative Office in Lithuania' by the Taiwan authorities. This act creates the false impression of 'one China, one Taiwan' in the world, flagrantly violates the one-China principle, and renounces the political commitment made by Lithuania in the communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. It undermines China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and grossly interferes in China's internal affairs. The Chinese government expresses strong protest over and firm objection to this extremely egregious act, and will take all necessary measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Lithuanian side shall be responsible for all the ensuing consequences.”
“The one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués constitute the political foundation of China-US relations. The so-called 'Taiwan Relations Act' and 'Six Assurances' unilaterally concocted by the US gravely violate international law, basic norms governing international relations and the one-China principle. China has made clear its firm rejection to them from the very beginning. For a while, the US has been keeping up erroneous words and acts on the Taiwan question. The Chinese side has made resolute and necessary reactions every step of the way. Should the US side choose to continue playing the ill-advised 'Taiwan card', it would inevitably pose seismic risks to China-US relations, seriously undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and gravely harm the interests of the US itself. We urge the US to abide by its commitment, the one-China principle, the stipulations of the three China-US joint communiqués and UNGA Resolution 2758, stop making irresponsible erroneous remarks, stop assisting Taiwan in expanding the so-called 'international space', avoid sending wrong signals to 'Taiwan independence' forces, and safeguard the political foundation for China-US relations with concrete actions.”
“It was not a missile, it was a space vehicle. The trial was of great significance for reducing the use-cost of spacecraft and could provide a convenient and affordable way to make a round trip for mankind's peaceful use of space.”
“As the largest developing country, a permanent member of the Security Council, and the second-largest contributor to the UN peacekeeping budget, China is always highly responsible and pays its dues promptly. The current financial situation of the UN is still worrying, and arrears of membership dues and peacekeeping assessments by some member states are one of the main reasons. Multilateralism should be practiced, not stated. Relevant countries should pay UN dues and various assessments in a timely, full and unconditional manner to ensure the normal operation of the UN and fulfill its commitment to multilateralism with practical actions.”
“The nuclear submarine cooperation between the US, the UK and Australia has seriously undermined regional peace and stability, intensified the arms race and undermined international non-proliferation efforts. The export of highly sensitive nuclear submarine technology to Australia by the US and the UK proves once again that they are using nuclear exports as a tool for geopolitical game and adopting double standards. This is extremely irresponsible. As a non-nuclear weapon state under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and a party to the South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone (SPNFZ) Treaty, known as the Treaty of Rarotonga, Australia is now introducing nuclear submarine technology of strategic and military value. The international community, including Australia's neighboring countries, has full reason to question whether Australia is serious about fulfilling its nuclear non-proliferation commitments. China will pay close attention to the development of the relevant situation.”
“The Taiwan question is the most important and sensitive issue at the core of China-US relations. The one-China principle is the political foundation of bilateral relations. In the China-US Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, the US unequivocally that 'the people of the United States will maintain cultural, commercial, and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan'. In his phone call with President Xi Jinping, President Biden said that the US has no intention to change the one-China policy. China has lodged solemn representation with the US side in terms of the above-mentioned issue reported by the media. The US should abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, honor its commitments with concrete actions, stop all forms of official exchanges with Taiwan, and stop elevating substantive relations with Taiwan. This should include refrain from renaming the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the US as 'Taiwan Representative Office', and stop sending wrong signals to 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces. The US side should handle the Taiwan question in a prudent manner, lest it should seriously undermine China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.”
“Japan's militarists once used geographical proximity as the main excuse to wage wars of aggression. It is a very dangerous development that some in Japan are still touting this logic in the 21st century. We need to stay on high alert about this. On the Taiwan question, the Japanese side bears historical responsibilities to the Chinese people for its past crimes and should especially be prudent with its words and actions. Japan should stop interfering in China's domestic affairs, avoid undermining China's sovereignty in any form and refrain from sending wrong signals to 'Taiwan independence' forces in any form. I want to stress once again that the Taiwan region is an inalienable part of the Chinese territory and the Taiwan question is purely China's internal affair that brooks no foreign interference. No one should underestimate the strong resolution, determination and capability of the Chinese people to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
